Leí esta cita en "The Company of Critics" de Michael Walzer, y con gran gusto le dedico la transcripción a mi amigo JAC que decidió convertirse, equivocadamente, en Gregorio Samsa:
I only want to suggest that such feelings are not the precondition, they are the result, of social criticism. It's not that one cuts the threads in order to become a critic, but that the force of one's criticism leads one to think about cutting the threads. Criticism will falter and fail, however, if the threads are really cut, for the social critic must have standing among his fellow citizens. He exploits his connections, as it were, not his disconnections. If he hates his fellows and breaks his ties, why should they pay attention to what he says?
why would anyone want from anybody to be paid attention to other than anal desire of control or short penis compensation? this waltzer guy has got some rather pathological need for attention.
