Acabo de leer la biografía de John Dewey "John Dewey and the High Tide of American Liberalism" y como diría un amigo, "me voló la tapa de los sesos".
Un tipo callado, introvertido, sin mucha personalidad. De su vida privada se sabe poco, si no es que casi nada. Sin embargo escribió tanto tanto tanto que se sabe mucho de su vida intelectual (¡más de 1000 manuscritos!). Con más tiempo y calma escribiré lo que pienso de la filosofía deweyana, sobre todo porque es de las cosas más interesantes que he leído en mucho tiempo. Un poco de anti-dualismo, de hegelianismo naturalizado, de comunitarismo liberalizado, empiricismo radical, etc. Pareciera que acumula mucho de lo bueno. Mientras dejo el siguiente párrafo:
"He never flinched from the thought that governments ought to govern, that people with storng political views ought to organize to get those views implemented as policy, and that philosphers who wanted to have an effect on the world ought no to mind getting their hands dirty. To pull back fastidiously from making a difference just because it involved making a difference would be a very strange policy for a pragmatist".
p.d. por cierto estoy releyendo a Zizek (ya me había leído "Repetir Lenin"), creo que también tiene el potencial de volarme la tapa de los sesos.
